Hope Worth Waiting For

Psalm 130:1-8

The Psalms are full of the word “wait”.  It appears 21 times.  Part of worshipping and serving God is waiting upon him and for him.  Psalm 130 is a song of ascents where people recited as they traveled to Jerusalem.  They were, in fact, waiting until they could come before God in the holy place.  Since they knew that God forgives and gives us the ability to revere and serve him (verse 4), they knew that they could wait for more.

Those who have received forgiveness have hope.  Those full of hope can wait.  Those who wait patiently for God to act and respond are never disappointed.  Their waiting creates good anticipation.  That brings us back full circle to putting our hope in him and his word.  God has never given his children reasons to doubt his love and faithfulness.  Doubts come from hearts that forget.

Trust in God with all your being and you will find a satisfying hope that will not disappoint (cf. Romans 5:5).  In fact, you will find that you have the ability to “wait with all [your] being.”  In a world that loathes waiting, the faithful enjoy it- knowing what is at the end of the wait.
