Plane Tired

There are times when I think that Orville and Wilbur Wright should have been punished.  I am grateful for their efforts.  But, it has made the possibilities and the pressure or temptation to achieve them endless.  Our lives are filled with running to and fro to very helpful events.  But, I don’t believe we were necessarily created for this.

The biggest problem with vast travel opportunities that jets afford is that it hardly allows for segue or transition.  Herky jerky we move from this to that without experience the full context of the situations we enter.  It is like an scene from a musical where the person comes in with a full script among people who have been already carrying out their parts and quoting their lines among themselves for hours.

And, for the weary business traveler, they have the disadvantage of jetlag, travel fatigue and wrinkled clothes and skin to bring abruptly into the world they are entering only to leave that world shortly.

One great solace is that there are millions of us doing this silly, rapid-fire “in and out” life.  I hope Scotty never really finds the ability to beam us up and over and out to some other destination with material transport.  I hope time travel never becomes a possibility.  Otherwise, we will be in more of a quandary than we are at present.  The jet lag may not be there.  But, the segue, transition and context will still be missing.  I’m plane tired.  But, it could be worse.
