Wisdom, Common Sense and Personal Conviction

I pray that God fills you with wisdom that exceeds personal conviction and common sense; both of which are often confused as wisdom.  Make no mistake; all three are gifts from God.  Personal conviction regularly keeps us from error.  Common sense is the general guidance given by God working through those who will at least listen and pay attention on the most basic level- to the common understanding of people who seek the right.  Wisdom is the spectacular gift to see things from God's perspective when all other perspectives might agree but have equally perilous consequences.  In that way, it transcends conviction and common sense.  It is not about a right versus wrong way of seeing.  It is a supremely high way of seeing.  That is a sublime gift from God not only to those who possess it, but to everyone else around.  That is why it is a cherished gift and to be sought with gold, silver and all our finest efforts and deepest prayer.
