There is a great game that many of us have played as children- telephone. Tell the person next to you (best played in a big circle with 15 or more people) some bit of news. Then, they try to relay the message in secret to the next person. By the time it comes to its original point, the message is generally unrecognizable.
That happened to the Thomas family today. I sent a private communication to a few people, which then became a public communication which has come back to me in tragically muted proportions from either the original message or the actual circumstance we are facing. I have heard the most extreme scenarios from coma to deceased to teetering on the edge. You can fill in the blank. In fact, however, Mitch just opened a bag of Nutter Butter Cookies though he hasn’t mustered the strength to eat one yet. On the good side, we are loved by many concerned people who are getting the word out to many more concerned and praying people. On the down side, we are being consoled about non-realities.
I don’t mind the telephone. But, I much prefer the prayer line straight to the Lord. We can’t get it wrong anyway with him, no matter how big the circle and how incorrect the message. He’s way down the road beyond us in knowing what is going on and how it will work out as well as possible solutions. We can’t twist it beyond recognition out of his reach and ability to straightening it out. Anyway, thanks for praying and loving us, your servants. We feel more love than I can imagine anyone ever feeling among humanity. You are a caring community.
